Now, welcoming another petite lady, Patricia “Patti” Nabong, hailing from a nation of 7,107 islands to the mother event Rainforest Challenge this year! PATTI, SAMMY READY TO PETITE

Patricia “Patti” Nabong of the Philippines is the first lady driver from the nation of 7,107 islands to enter for the Rainforest Challenge (RFC).
“I am overwhelmed to have this privilege of being the first lady driver to represent my country in the most prestigious 4×4 competition in the world,” saidPatti of the Pampanga Adventure Team.

Woman power year in RFC 2014 season?

Here’s the view frm another Ladies of Steel, this time frm Malaysia. Nurin & Yati of Team 101 Red Adv Felda are also “thumbs up” for more ladies of steel in this year’s RFC (28 Nov – 8 Dec). They made their debut in 2012 RFC & have improved tremendously in 2013 in spite of more teams competing last yr & more SS, they hv maintained their 13th overall ranking outof 35 teams competing..dat’s a good record indeed. In their upgraded Suzuki Vitara & great supporting crew…they not only did well to complete the event & the SS, but most of all, enjoyed themselves in the wettest edition of the mother event RFC. “I m very happy to b able to join RFC, it’s a very enriching exp….hope to see more ladies this year & let’s give the men a run for their money,’ smiled Nurin. “Running or jumping in the mud, pulling winch cable..getting wet & dirty…, a co-driver’s job is the same as any other male team,” added Yati. It’s still early in the year, but already the ladies are not only the “early birds,,” they are an inspiring force for all of us too, so cheers to the ladies of steel frm Brasil & Malaysia so far….hope to see more… in RFC 2014…!! Pix (ruddiee & red adv): Yati pulling winch cable at the Prologue SS..getting dirty in mud, team 101 Suzuki Vitara…hmm ladies with a heart-throb of kos (Ricky Kim)..and ladies team night driving…what the men can do…so can they..!

How would they fare, facing the men in their own macho game? Well, seeing is believing, so catch them in action this 1 Dec in Melaka. LADIES OF STEEL TEAM 199 of Nurin & Yati from Malaysia in their Suzuki Vitara equipped with, among others, 3,000 cc Nissan QD engine, Centipede 35” MT tyres, 2 PTO winches, suspensions/shocks. Like we all know, it’s not only the hardware that counts, but the human software. So, how do they rate in this MACHO off-road sports.? “We are not too concerned about women in a men’s game thing,” commented Nurin (who also runs her own outdoor/adv co), “what we both wanted is to enjoy what we love to do, that is…4×4.” Nurin is also a winner of TV3’s EXPLORACE. This is not only a showpiece, but a serious attempt to take on the men in their own game, & the come fully prepared, including their own support crew. “We r very grateful to get encouragement /support frm our male colleagues, which leads us to compete & give the men a run for their money,” smiled Yati (she has RFC combat experience as co-driver in 2010). Both have their 4×4 exp from 2005 & 2008 respectively. Whatever you may want to say about this, just wait for 1 Dec at Pantai Klebang, Melaka…one thing for sure…….these ladies r no push-over..come & cheer them on.!
