Na letošnjem, že petinšestdesetič organiziranem avtomobilskem salonu v Frankfurtu, se je novinarjem prvič predstavil povsem novi kompaktni konceptni SUV znamke Suzuki, ki po navedbi proizvajalca ne želi biti naslednik modela jimny.

Pri znamki Suzuki so zelo ponosni na svojo preteklost, zaznamovano s številnimi kompaktnimi 4x4 modeli iz serij LJ (Light Jeep) in SJ (Small Jeep), tu sta tudi kasnejši jimny ter prva vitara, čeprav so sedaj kupcem znani tudi po večjih SUV modelih (grand vitara). Prvi kompaktni terenec znamke Suzuki (model LJ10), ki je spiritualni predhodnik današnjega modela jimny, se je na globalnem tržišču pojavil že v aprilu leta 1970. Na začetku osemdesetih let prejšnjega stoletja ga je nadomestila druga generacija v obliki serije SJ/samurai. Sedanji jimny, ki predstavlja že tretjo generacijo majhnih Suzukijevih terenskih vozil, pa obstaja že od leta 1998. Že leta 1988 se je pojavila tudi vitara, eden izmed prvih kompaktnih SUV-jev te vrste, velja pa omeniti tudi enega izmed prvih serijskih crossover modelov v obliki legendarnega suzukija X90 (1996-1997).

Sedaj so pokazali novi iV-4 concept (dolžina: 4215 mm, širina: 1850 mm, višina: 1665 mm, medosna razdalja: 2500 mm, nameščene pnevmatike dimenzij 235/55 R20), ki bo obiskovalcem frankfurtskega salona predstavil podobo bodočega kompaktnega SUV modela , ki svojo zunanjo podobo gradi predvsem na terensko odmerjeni robustnosti, čeprav pri tem ohranja nekatere moderne in inovativne oblikovne lastnosti (5-delna oblika maske hladilnika in motornega pokrova) že znanih serijskih SUV modelov te znamke. Študija iV-4 (črka i predstavlja individualnost, črka V simbolizira oznako za vozilo, številka 4 označuje 4WD pogon), ki je zasnovana in oblikovana v sozvočju s hišno 'off-road' obarvano temo “Grab your field”, pa zaenkrat ostaja skrivnostna, ker Japonci niso razkrili nobenih tehničnih podatkov o prototipnem avtomobilu, ki bo v serijski različici dostopen šele leta 2015.

So pa posebej izpostavili strešni meglenki, skriti v obeh nosilcih strešnih sani, ker tam nahaja tudi laserski senzor, čeprav tokrat niso razkrili asistenčnega sistema, ki ga vgrajeni senzor podpira. Poleg tega so omenili osvetljeno masko hladilnika. Povsem nova je tudi karoserijska barva (Brilliant Turquoise Metallic) frankfurtskega debitanta, ki bo v bližnji bodočnosti na voljo kupcem serijskih suzukijev. Med ostalimi pomembnimi frankfurtskimi novostmi so omenili povsem novi serijski model SX4, razstavljena pa bo tudi celotna paleta ostalih serijskih modelov (alto, splash, swift, swift sport, SX4 classic, jimny, grand Vitara in kizashi).

The Suzuki iV-4 concept has been unveiled at the Frankfurt motor show, previewing the successor to the long-running Jimny that’s confirmed to go on sale in 2015.

The iV-4 concept – ‘i’ for individuality, ‘V’ for vehicle, and ‘4’ for four-wheel drive – blends characteristic elements of Suzuki design DNA like the five-slotted grille and clamshell bonnet with modern-day shapes and lines.

The current third-generation Jimny will be 17 years old when it is replaced by the new concept-inspired production car.
